This quote describes Lopez's idealized, fantasy-like perception of what a road trip is. Despite the fact that the actual road trip did not reap such success for her, Lopez keeps this haughty sense of attitude throughout most of the story. She's like the female Jagerbomb guy. For her, a road trip is an opportunity to travel across the country as a glorified bad ass. She wants the self-gratification, the sense of superiority, a chance to do something she's never done before and then be able to brag about it later. For Lopez this road trip is not to gain wisdom nor for enlightenment to quench her thirst of curiosity, no. Lopez decided to jump on a motorcycle after just learning how to ride and "vroom" across the country to reiterate to herself and to others that she is the coolest of them all. She's just your typical "I-think-I'm-on-the-outskirts-of-society-and-therefore-I-just-really-want-to-be-the-center-of-attention-for-once" kind of gal.
My question is: Am I wrong?
