Climbing out of jeans in cars is a native art...

"More women have done this than you'd imagine" Really? I have been on a few road trips myself and never experienced a woman completely stripping naked in the passenger seat. This poem points out how thrills for men and women differ. For a man, scooting over to the wrong side of the road can be an adrenaline rush, but a woman would probably just find it reckless and see more fear than anything. It works both ways, most men would not strip down in the passenger seat for the sole reason of being bored. The fear and recklessness that a woman would probably feel if I was swerving all over the road is the same way I would feel if a woman was stripping next to me for the fear I could not keep my eyes on the road. I think it would be a little difficult to all of a sudden get tunnel vision and only be able to focus on the road.
Do you think Mcferren is right that this has happened more than we can imagine? I find it hard to believe.

  1. You're right. A man would get an adrenaline rush out of driving on the wrong side of the road for an extended amount of time while a woman would get one by taking her clothes off in a seemingly "public" but really public-less area. That's because men are excited by doing stupid stuff that can get them killed or hurt and women get excited about daring stuff they can just laugh about later.

I don't know why but when I read this poem I imagine that this is the kind of girl you would see at a karaoke bar singing on the top of her lungs or sneaking out of her window in the middle of the night when she was 15 to go meet a boy waiting around the corner. The girl with the infectious laugh everybody wants to be around because she is just oozing with life.

For a girl like this, a road trip would just be a way to have a really fun experience and be able to tell all about it later to her friends. It would be an outlet to experience raw freedom and just enjoy being young.

Which character would you define her as being more similar to: Dean or Sal?
